The University of Manchester Innovation Factory (“UoMIF”) is the University of Manchester’s subsidiary responsible for identifying and leading the commercialisation of its innovations and intellectual property.

We are searching for a Paralegal that possesses rigorous attention to detail and who is confident in making decisions whilst taking into account the commercial impact.

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting legal documentation such as proof of principle or similar agreements, outgoing material transfer agreements, confidential disclosures agreements and IP contract documentation to name a few.

Reporting to the Legal Services Manager, the Paralegal shall assist and manage due diligence via the identification and reviewing all contracts/award letters relating to IP.  They will also obtain confirmation of HR status for all contributors to project IP and identify potential legal or contractual constraints related to transacting project IP, working with the Legal services Manager where appropriate.

The ideal candidate will be able to build key relationships and have experience working within a Legal or IP setting, actively remaining up to date  with professional and role-specific trends.  They will be computer literate and comfortable operating excel/ maintaining spreadsheets etc.

This role is ideal for somebody wanting to continue in their professional development.

Although there is not a specific requirement by way of qualifications for this post, a degree in legal studies, postgraduate legal practice course and/or experience working within a legal role would certainly be preferable
