Professor Graham Lord, the Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at The University of Manchester, has joined the Board of the University’s Innovation Factory.
The Innovation Factory is the technology transfer office that commercialises the University’s innovations. It works with academic and student inventors to identify research that has the potential to create value. It then translates these into a form where they can be used to benefit society as a whole.
The Innovation Factory has created 32 IP-rich spinouts since 2019. It provides a world-class service to academic colleagues as well as industry, entrepreneurs, licensees, VC and angel investors and corporate venturing partners.
Prof Lord replaced Prof Martin Schroder on the Board in October 2023. Prof Lord retains his roles as Executive Director of the Academic Health Science Centre as part of Health Innovation Manchester and representing the University on the board of the Northern Health Science Alliance.
Professor Lord said: “The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health is a huge contributor to the Innovation Factory’s mission to take world-class research from the lab into applications which help society take on the challenges of the modern world. I look forwards to working with the Innovation Factory and help them achieve their mission of using the IP developed at The University of Manchester to create positive social, economic and environmental impact.”
